Jonathas de Andrade (1982) investigates power relations in the social and sexual spheres, often using the city as an arena of friction or metaphor in installations, videos and photo-essays. He has stood out in the international art scene and participated in numerous exhibitions, such as the biennials of Sharjah, São Paulo, Lyon, Gwangju, Istanbul and Mercosur, and the New Museum’s 2nd Triennial (NY). Among his solo exhibitions are On Horses, Fish and Man (The Power Plant, Toronto – 2017), Convocatória para um Mobiliário Brasileiro (MASP – 2016), Museu do Homem do Nordeste (Alexander and Bonin Gallery and Rio Art Museum – 2015/2014) and Posters for the Museu do Homem do Nordeste (Kunsthalle Lissabon – 2013). He lives and works in Recife.
